eSIM troubleshooting

Double check device compatibility

Make sure you double check your device is compatible with eSIM and Belong’s network. eSIM compatible devices purchased overseas or from another provider may not be compatible with Belong’s network. For more info, read more about device compatibility.

Connect to stable wi-fi

Make sure you have stable wi-fi connection when you install eSIM. If your wi-fi cuts out while installing eSIM, you may receive installation errors and delays activating your service.

Follow all steps

Make sure you’ve followed all instructions. See eSIM installation instructions:

Don’t interrupt installation

Installation may take up to 30 minutes. Make sure you stay on the ‘Activate eSIM’ screen until you can hit ‘Done’. If you leave device settings while eSIM installs, you may receive installation errors and delays activating your service.

Restart your device after activation

Once your eSIM is active, restart your device. This will help your eSIM connect to our network.

You’ll receive an email from us when your eSIM is active. If your network connection just reads “SOS” with no mobile network bars, it’s likely your eSIM is active and device needs a reset. Restarting your device should fix the issue.

Check your service is ‘on’

If you’re using more than one service on your device (e.g. an eSIM plus a physical SIM), check that your service has been switched on for your device.

  • If you’re using multiple services on your device, check if the Belong eSIM is toggled on. This may not happen by default.

  • If you used an eSIM with your previous provider, you may need to toggle off any services from your previous provider.

  • If you’re swapping from SIM card to eSIM on an existing Belong service, make sure that service is turned on.

How to check services via device settings

If you’re not sure what Belong service is using eSIM, log into your Belong account. You’ll see an “eSIM” badge next to any services using eSIM.

Apple devices

  1. Open the ‘Settings’ app.

  2. Tap ‘Mobile’.

  3. Scroll down to “eSIMs”.

  4. Find the number you’re using with Belong and make sure it’s switched ‘On’.

Android devices

  1. Open the ‘Settings’ app.

  2. Look up specific instructions for installing an eSIM with your device manufacturer.

  3. Make sure you’re connected to wi-fi while installing your eSIM.

Note: The steps for Android may vary across manufacturers. Check with your device manufacturer if those steps don’t work for you.
